This car is an exceptional example. The original Mustang changed the course of motoring for many and has become an object of desire for collectors ever since.
This car’s build number reveals the car was built at the San Jose factory on February 24th 1965, with a 289 V8, C-4 automatic transmission and 2.80:1 rear axle.
Early ownership history is unknown. The car underwent a thorough restoration in the USA in the late 1990s, the tremendously high quality of which is evident.
By 2006 the car was in Western Australia.
Some paperwork exists for the car in the period following, showing routine servicing, replacement of wearing parts within the scope of normal expectations.
Eight years ago the present owner bought the Mustang after a search for the best he could find. It’s seen minimal use as a part of the collection of classic and vintage cars, always regularly maintained.
The car presents beautifully as a spectacular example of the model. Inside and out the car is in show car condition. It is completely correct and unmodified. The attention to detail throughout is evidence of a very high quality restoration.
Even the underneath presents exceptionally well – the car only having been used in fair weather. The odometer reads 22,830 miles.
The car starts immediately, and with automatic transmission and power steering, is an easy car to enjoy on the road. The engine emits a nice burbling sound and offers performance aplenty.
While there are plenty of Mustangs around, opportunities to find such a fine example are few, and this car will satisfy the most discerning collector.
