1959 Mercedes-Benz 190 – SOLD

Renowned for their high quality engineering, the Ponton series put Mercedes-Benz on the map in Australia. This car was in Victoria for many years before coming to WA. It’s the 1.9-litre 4-cylinder version with 4-speed manual gearbox.

The car has benefitted from being repainted and retrimmed throughout (seats, carpets, roof lining), by the previous owner. It’s not in perfect condition, requiring attention to some cosmetic items, however it runs and drives well. The car was always reliable for its most recent owner who passed away recently.

Original books, tools and jack are with the car with a small quantity of parts. The custom number plates 1959 MERC will be sold with the car to a WA buyer.

A comfortable, easy to work on, well built car, with excellent support from marque clubs and international supply of parts this would make an excellent first classic or an interesting addition to a collection, at a very accessible price.

2012 Bentley Continental GT – SOLD

This magnificent twin-turbocharged 12-cylinder Bentley was highly optioned when new, its on-road cost exceeding half a million dollars. Options included special interior colours and finishes, 21-inch alloy wheels, ventilated seats with massage function and much more.

With its second and current owner since 2015, the car has been a part of a collection and has covered just 51,000km from new. Always dealer serviced, the car has benefitted from new Pirelli tyres and a new battery recently.

The car has twice won its class in the Rolls-Royce Owners Club Concours d’Elegance such is its beautiful condition.

With a very attractive colour combination, excellent history and low mileage, this fine example of the Continental GT would be hard to better. Realistically priced, this car offers exceptional value for money.

1990 BMW 525i – SOLD

This is a very well-kept, Australian-delivered E34 525i. Six-cylinder, automatic, power windows, with optional alloy wheels.

It’s had just three owners from new, the most recent owner for two decades. The car has been consistently well maintained by BMW dealers and specialists from new, with a fully stamped and annotated service book and many pages of receipts for work since.

In the last 10 years over $20,000 has been spent ensuring everything is spot-on, most recent work including timing belt, tensioner and water pump and new front and rear brake discs, pads and hoses. It’s covered just under 261,000km.

The interior is impressive, partly because lambswool seat covers (now removed) have protected the original upholstery, which remains spotless. There are some small dents on the bonnet and left front guard where some items fell on the car in the home garage – most likely easily dealt with by a mobile Paintless Dent Removal specialist.

The car sits on good Michelin Polit Sport tyres, has all the original books and tools.

It runs very nicely, is comfortable, spacious, has excellent service history and is unbeatable value.

1955 Jaguar XK140 FHC – SOLD

A lucky find… A factory right-hand-drive XK140 FHC, this car was sold new in England and had moved to Scotland and New Zealand before coming to Sydney then eventually Perth.

It had been restored in the late 1970s and upgraded at that time to a 3.8 with high ratio diff and gearbox.

It’s been with the same Perth owner for 37 years. He last drove the car about 10 years ago and his age and ill health mean it must be sold. The car’s not registered and has always been kept garaged.

It would probably take little to get running and could either provide a fun experience with the rough looking paintwork and patina, or would form the basis for a restoration.

This car’s not a wreck or a US import that’s been through the mill, but a sound, complete, well-used example – and it’s priced irresistibly!

1954 Alvis TC21/100 Grey Lady – Withdrawn

This beautifully restored Alvis is the top-of-the-line version which incorporated many improvements and additional features. One of these was that the 100bhp engine propelled the car to 100 miles per hour, which was quite a feat in a saloon car in the 1950s.

The Grey Lady model also featured wire spoke wheels with knock-off hubs, fog and spot lights, hidden door hinges, and many other details plus twin carburettors, dual exhausts and other mechanical upgrades.

Luxuriously fitted out with traditional British leather upholstery and lots of polished woodwork inside, these were very comfortable cars.

Just six Grey Lady Alvises were sold new in Australia, this one delivered new in Adelaide.

This car was restored a few years ago and the present owner has added some improvements, but has mostly enjoyed driving the car on weekends and club runs, including to the country where the 3-litre 6-cylinder motor excels. It’s a smooth motor which gives excellent performance.

Registered 1CYY 989 on club registration. A rare opportunity.

1954 Land Rover S1 SWB 86-Inch – SOLD

This is a well sorted example of the legendary Series 1 Land Rover. It was well-specified from new, including options of a heater, bonnet mount for the spare wheel, tow hooks, etc. Since then practical additions have included spotlights, a towbar, additional tail-lights and removable carpet.

This Land Rover has had a few subtle improvements – such as a later 2¼ litre petrol engine, the added capacity usefully increasing power and torque. And Series 2 disc brake front end has been fitted, plus parabolic springs making the on-road capability greatly improved.

Recently it’s had a new soft-top, new tyres, a new exhaust system, shock absorbers, plus other minor items such as new wiper motors, external mirrors, sliding side windows and a passenger side step added. It’s been serviced and tuned.

The owner assures there’s no rust anywhere and that it doesn’t leak oil.

It’s not a show car but presents smartly though it can’t hide its almost 70 years of age – though the car’s owner is significantly older and needs to thin-out his collection…

The Land Rover is on club registration which can be changed over to club members. 1HSE 599.

These classic Land Rovers are a ball of fun, for open top motoring, club events and they’re just as capable off-road as ever.

1971 MGB GT – SOLD

The hardtop GT brought new practicality to the popular MGB with a more spacious cabin, rear hatch and weather-proof interior.

This car was built right-hand-drive and it belonged in Perth to the American Consulate being used as everyday transport for many years. The current owner bought it a few years ago with nostalgic reasons and with plans to rectify a few items on the car, minor cosmetic issues.

It has fallen out of registration, but runs well, has the Rostyle wheels and lovely large sunroof. A bluetooth sound system with period-correct look has been fitted as well as a wood-rim Moto Lita steering wheel.

The owner has lost some parking space due to moving premises, so the car must be sold – and it’s been priced very realistically.

1985 Land Rover 110 County V8 – SOLD

This County was sold new in WA and has had just one owner until 5 years ago when the present owner bought it. It’s the V8 model with 5-speed manual gearbox and 10-seat configuration.

He has done some work on the County, including fitment of a Holley carburettor, window tinting, new tyres and an LED light conversion.

There’s some rust in the bottoms of the back doors and passenger footwell, which he hasn’t got around to repairing yet. There is some flaking of the paint on some panels. Otherwise it’s pretty tidy and original. The odometer shows 219,000km.

Unfortunately before the owner’s been able to finish the Landy and get it registered, he has moved premises and has lost some parking and must sell. He’s realistic about the fact it requires finishing and the County is prices realistically.
