1997 Mercedes-Benz SLK 230 – SOLD

This supercharged SLK was with its original owner until 2 years ago and has covered just 89,000km from new. It’s clearly always been a cherished car, has a very tidy appearance and drives well. Everything works, including significantly the folding hardtop.

It’s in the classic SLK colour scheme of silver with black and red trim. There are some minor cosmetic items which would benefit from being sorted. Quality seat covers have been fitted as a protective measure. The leather underneath is in excellent condition.

The car drives very nicely, with a sporty exhaust note audible when the roof is down.

Good, low-mileage examples of this model – such as this car – will become sought after as collectors items. This car represents excellent value.

1978 Ferrari 308 GTB

A beautiful example of a classic ‘70s Ferrari, with all the specs that made these special. Quad-cam, dry sump V8 engine, 5-speed gated gearbox, elegant Pininfarina styling…

This is a factory built right-hand-drive car, originally English delivered, then many years in New Zealand before coming to Australia. The current owner bought the car 17 years ago when he lived in New Zealand.

It’s a rare version with the desirable dry sump engine. The car has been completely restored – totally stripped and rebuilt to a high enough standard to win awards. It’s since been very well maintained as a part of a collection of Italian exotics. In preparation for retirement the owner is downsizing his collection. I’ve sold two other cars for him.

A striking looking car in a very attractive – very ‘70s – colour combination, in beautiful condition, with a history of tremendous reliability…

Tool roll, books, jack, etc, with the car. Plates 78 GTB go with the car to a WA buyer.

1965 Volkswagen 1200 Deluxe – SOLD

Remarkably, this car has had just one owner from new – 58 years!

Imported when the car’s family emigrated from South Africa, it was just a few years old and having initially served as the family car, it became the second car not long after and always cherished.

The Beetle remains largely original and has never been modified – the only changes being a sensible conversion to 12-volt electrics and fitment of inertia reel seat belts.

It’s rust-free, has a few small marks here and there and drives just like it should – recently having been serviced.

An incredibly rare opportunity to buy a 1-owner Volkswagen of this age…

1954 Sunbeam Talbot 90 Sports Saloon – SOLD

These were high quality sporting saloons with excellent pedigree including rallying success in the Monte Carlo Rallye.

This example was sold new in Perth and in 1972 was garaged – and didn’t see the light of day until 2013. It’s since been totally stripped and restored, with every element attended to. Lots of photos and records of the work done.  It’s well-sorted and has covered just 28,000 miles from new.

A really lovely classic with lots of special features.

1967 Lotus 7 Series 2 1/2 – SOLD

Excellent value – A really well-sorted Lotus 7 with period correct Ford 1600 GT engine, fully rebuilt. This car has been thoroughly restored, with suspension, brakes, engine, gearbox, steering, electrics, etc, all reconditioned for use in motorkhanas. Rollbar, harness mounts, towing points and new competition tyres on wide Elan wheels all fitted for this purpose.

The car is not registered, but has all documentation and has had engineering advice and inspection in readiness should a new owner wish to register the car. The front wheel/tyre combination is too wide and would have to be addressed. The car runs beautifully on twin Dellorto carburettors.

A brand new tonneau has just been purchased.

A rare opportunity to get a genuine Lotus 7, pre-Caterham involvement, suitable for historic or modern motorsport or can easily be registered for road use.

1979 Mercedes-Benz 450SEL

Wonderful classic S-Class with the big 4.5-litre V8, automatic, air conditioning, power sunroof, leather, power windows, cruise control, etc – everything a successful tycoon would have in 1978… This car was delivered new in NSW being a country car regularly serviced by Mercedes-Benz. It changed hands in 1996. The second owner kept the car – and cherished it – for 25 years, only selling it when he was 85 years of age.

There are 4 service booklets stamped plus copious notes on servicing. They show the transmission had been reconditioned, a complete new exhaust system installed, a new air conditioning compressor and receiver-dryer, the steering box was reconditioned. Mercedes specialist restoration company Herscheid Restorations undertook approximately $10,000 of work on the car in 2019, for work on the brakes as well as replacement timing chain, water pump, valve stem seals and reconditioned heads.

The car was sold to a WA buyer last year who had the car gone through prior to licensing inspection and some minor work done. The car’s been reliable, comfortable and a joy to drive. It has now covered 325,000km – not huge for this model – and a buyer can be confident that regular servicing the car has benefitted from will ensure longevity.

It’s a very sound, original and correct example. A few minor items could be attended to, but generally it presents well. And it drives like a big old S-Class should, with easy cruising its speciality.
