1969 Daimler Sovereign 420 – SOLD

A lovely example of the final model of Compact Jaguar and Daimler series from the last year of production. Fitted with many features which were options on lesser models, this car is a great beauty. It features the 245bhp 4.2 engine, automatic transmission, Marles power steering, full leather trim with perforated seat faces and lots of beautiful wood trim – as well as an excellent full size Webasto sunroof.

This car has been the subject of a great deal of restoration work some years ago, with lots of documentation on file of work done over the years.

It’s as much a pleasure to drive as it is to admire. A beautiful cruiser which presents beautifully.

Selling on behalf of the owner who has a storage space issue, so the car has to go.

For half the cost of a good Mk2 Jaguar, with its bigger engine, independent rear suspension and superior power steering, the Sovereign is arguably a better car to drive.

No swaps, trades or silly low-ball offers thankyou. Rego 1IDN777

1974 MGB GT V8 – SOLD

A highlight in the long production run of the MGB range was the V8, produced only for a relatively short period including during the changeover to the versions with the big rubber bumpers to suit US regulations. These late chrome bumper V8 cars are highly sought after by collectors. Just 1865 were made, and the model was not sold new in Australia, so they’ve always been very rare.

This attractive example was finished in its original striking Citron yellow colour so evocative of the era – which positively glows in sunlight. Records with the car show it was completed on March 23 1974. There are detailed records with the car in its history file.

In late 2018 it was imported to Western Australia and joined a collection of cars. It was complied, inspected and licensed in 2019. The owner passed away a couple of years ago and the car changed hands to another local collector.

There are records of much work being done keeping the car in fine fettle over the years – with over $10,000 having been spent since its arrival in Perth. It’s a well-sorted car, offering excellent performance, smooth running and a lot of fun. The torquey 3.5-litre V8 suits the light MG well.

While there are some age related items which could be attended to, the car is original and correct and everything works as it should, including the overdrive.

Two sets of numberplates go with the car to a WA buyer, the car presently wearing HEBEGEEBE. Plus the original handbook, history file, jack, etc.

1972 Mercedes-Benz 350SL LHD – SOLD

This model is where the V8-engined SL series began. This new shape became such a success for Mercedes-Benz that it became the longest running model in the company’s history. Today, the R107 series has a great following worldwide.

Like the majority of 350SLs, this car was delivered new in the USA. Being a US market model, it has the 4.5-litre V8. It was bought by a WA man in New Mexico – a dry state, meaning less risk of rust – and it arrived in Western Australia in 2012.

The bodywork is straight and the classy metallic grey colour suits the shape of the 350SL very well. The body has been repainted before the car was exported to Australia.

Inside, the upholstery is excellent and there are no cracks in the dash top. The original carpets are well-worn, though mats cover the carpet in the footwells.

The black soft-top roof is in excellent condition, with no damage and good, clear rear windows.

The present owner has had the car for five years. Recent work has included a full service with filters and fluids changed, a new air conditioning compressor and receiver-drier, as well as new fuel injectors.

The SL drives nicely – the V8 offering easy performance and the automatic transmission changing smoothly. The car has power steering, electric windows and an updated sound system fitted.

On the day of photography, the odometer reading showed 214,964 miles – just run-in for a glamorous 1972 V8 Mercedes-Benz!

The 350SL has passed its licensing inspection and just been put onto club plates.

The owner is aware that being a left-hand-drive private import means the car cannot achieve the same price as a local car, so he’s very realistic at the level that the SL is priced. It’s a bargain!

1952 Holden 48-215 FX Sedan – SOLD

The FX is where it all began for Holden, with the sturdy model getting great acclaim and huge sales.

This car was sold new to a lady in Mosman Park, the same suburb in which the car had been assembled. She held on to the car until 1975, with a Sunday Times article featuring her and the car as she was giving up driving.

In 1977 the FX was the subject of refurbishment with the car being repainted and reupholstered. At that time, it had covered just 51,000 miles. The car wears the same number plates as when the first owner had it – UMK 283.

The present owner has had the car for a decade and has carefully refurbished several aspects of the car, with the outcome that it drives remarkably well for an FX and has been very reliable. Full details can be provided.

Now with almost 59,500 miles on the odometer, the Holden presents very nicely inside and out, is absolutely rust free and has apparently never been in an accident. This FX needs nothing done to it except for the next owner to enjoy it.

1983 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur – SOLD

The Silver Spur is the desirable long wheelbase version of the much admired SZ range of Rolls-Royce. This attractive example has been a multiple award winner in the Western Australian Rolls-Royce Owners’ Club Concours.

The car is finished in a strikingly beautiful colour Wild Berry metallic which suits it extremely well. Delivered new in Hong Kong, in 1998 the car was imported to Western Australia where it has stayed ever since. The present owner purchased the car not long after it was imported.

The Silver Spur has been cherished and thoroughly well maintained throughout. The owner has kept meticulous records of not only everything done to the car. There is a big file of the car’s service history. The result of such care is one of the nicest SZ series Rolls-Royces I’ve ever driven. It is smooth, tight and luxurious in the best way – an absolute pleasure to drive.

The odometer reading shows just over 122,400km, verifiable from the car’s service records.

There are a few minor marks on the car and some wear showing inside, but no damage to the leather. It’s a comprehensively equipped car, with lovely details including the fold-down tables in the rear.

Included with the car are its compendium of factory books, tool set and a fitted car cover.

This is a fine example of the model, having been thoroughly well maintained and past winner of many awards. If you fancy a Rolls-Royce, this car is realistically priced.

1970 Holden Premier HG – SOLD

This remarkable Holden has been in one family from new – 54 years with just two generations.

Ordered with several options, the car has the venerable 186 engine and Trimatic transmission and is finished in a very attractive colour combination.

In 1993 the car moved from Sydney to Perth with its lady owner and some years later her son took over the car – each having the car for 27 years.

Fifteen years ago it was stripped and treated to a repaint, but in the ensuing years it’s had some scratches and paint chips added. The brake booster appears to need attention, the car having been little used for the last couple of years.

These cars are known to suffer from rust in the floor and back shelf, but this one is remarkably clean in those areas. The owner advises the car has always been garaged and never in an accident.

For a WA buyer the 186 HG number plates can go with the car. It has its original books and a small quantity of genuine parts, as well as its original radio.

This is a charming car which gets a lot of positive attention on the road.

1959 Mercedes-Benz 190 – SOLD

Renowned for their high quality engineering, the Ponton series put Mercedes-Benz on the map in Australia. This car was in Victoria for many years before coming to WA. It’s the 1.9-litre 4-cylinder version with 4-speed manual gearbox.

The car has benefitted from being repainted and retrimmed throughout (seats, carpets, roof lining), by the previous owner. It’s not in perfect condition, requiring attention to some cosmetic items, however it runs and drives well. The car was always reliable for its most recent owner who passed away recently.

Original books, tools and jack are with the car with a small quantity of parts. The custom number plates 1959 MERC will be sold with the car to a WA buyer.

A comfortable, easy to work on, well built car, with excellent support from marque clubs and international supply of parts this would make an excellent first classic or an interesting addition to a collection, at a very accessible price.

A rare chance to obtain a well-above average example of this desirable Honda sports car. This car has had two registered owners and has covered just 61,000km. There’s a fully stamped service book, two sets of keys and original tools. The car has never been modified.

These Hondas have a strong following around the world and are tipped by many experts to have very strong investment potential – especially for original, low mileage cars such as this one.
