1935 Rolls-Royce 20/25 Touring Limousine – $56,900

Ordered at the end of 1934, this Rolls-Royce was delivered to coachbuilder Barker in London to receive Touring Limousine bodywork, with some special order instructions and delivered to its first owners in Scotland, in 1935.

They retained the elegant car for 22 years, and the following Scottish owner also kept it 22 years before it was shipped to Canada. Following many years of ownership there the car moved to New Zealand before finally coming to Western Australia. The current, 6th owner bought it locally and has enjoyed the car for the past eight years.

It has been notably reliable and in frequent use (which is beneficial to any older Rolls-Royce). This has included in displays and country runs, including to Lake Perkolilli, just beyond Kalgoorlie where it has participated in the event there – twice. The car runs smoothly and provides a comfortable and effortless drive as intended by its designers.

Remarkably, this car has never been restored. The paintwork is original and well worn, the ‘patina’ giving the car great character. With aluminium bodywork there’s no rust. The front seat has been reupholstered and the extensive polished woodwork refinished, but the remainder of the interior remains original. Occasional seats are fitted to the rear compartment and stow below the glass division.

The car has its original wheel covers, but the owner prefers the look of the wire wheels. The number plates 1935 RR will go with the car to a WA buyer.

This Rolls-Royce has clearly always been well maintained and thus has proven absolutely reliable for the owner.
