1963 Morris Mini Cooper Rally Replica – SOLD

It’s not often that a properly well-prepared Mini Cooper rally replica comes onto the market.

This excellent example has been painstakingly built to replicate the high point in the Mini’s rallying career. Starting with a 1963 car (to ensure its event eligibility which more modern cars miss out on), every element of the car was subject to work and upgrades over a period of about ten years. It is evident that a lot of new parts have been fitted during the car’s build. All the work done to a very high standard, with no corners cut.

Unfortunately he became ill and subsequently passed away. The Mini was never used in a competition event following its completion. The car has been unused for three years but has recently been comprehensively recommissioned. The widow of the owner, keen to ensure the car is right for the next owner, had a marque expert carry out work this year.

The number plates GRX310D are the same combination on one of the works cars – go with the car if sold to a WA buyer.

It starts well – producing the typical hot Mini Cooper induction and exhaust noise – and drives with the verve and huge fun factor these cars are renowned for. It’s a rorty, sporty little car…

The cost to build such a car today would far exceed the asking price, which is to the benefit of the next owner. Here’s a car ready to use on the road or in club level historic motorsport events, oozing character and charm – and very accessibly priced.
