This car is a superior condition example of Mercedes-Benz luxury sports coupe from the ’70s. Fitted with the 4.5-litre V8 engine, automatic transmission and all the luxury Mercedes-Benz had at the time, the 450SLC was a very expensive car.

An Australian-delivered car, much of its history is known, including a couple of well-known past owners and there’s a file of documentation with it. Still with the car are the original handbooks, tags and other documentation with their original compendium, as well as a copy of the Data Card confirming options including limited slip differential.

Over the years the car has benefitted from an engine rebuild, since which time it’s covered some 25,000km. The automatic transmission was rebuilt at the same time. The total mileage showing is 185,000km. The past three owners have had the car as a collectors’ item and thus it’s had minimal use, rather than being pressed into everyday use.

It’s a very attractive example, with good Michelin tyres on its correct Bundt alloy wheels.

Inside, the woodwork is fine as is the black leather – the lambswool seat covers removed since the photo session.

If sold to a Western Australian buyer the desirable number plates MB450SLC go with the car.

This car would be one of the better 450SLCs around.
