1914 Buick B-24 Roadster – SOLD

A unique opportunity for a 110 year old car. This Veteran Buick is an older restoration which has enjoyed being a part of some high profile collections in Western Australia over the past few decades.

This car, was from a second generation of Buick, earlier models having been 2-cylinder cars where this boasted 4-cylinders. The engine is a sturdy 2.7-litre unit.

Having been in the USA from new until the early 1980s this car had been restored before being purchased and imported by its first Perth owner Australia’s wealthiest man, Robert Holmes a Court for his Heytesbury Classic Car Collection among a very impressive group of cars. After Holmes a Court’s death the collection was sold-off and this car was bought in 1993 by Buick collector extraordinaire Les Woodruff whose House of Buick private museum.

When the House of Buick contents were sold-off, another Perth collector bought several of the Buicks, thus his group of cars became the biggest Buick collection in Western Australia – as well as having many other brands of cars.

Always maintained and in driving condition, it took little to get the car back in good health after a few years following the passing of its last owner. The family is now ‘thinning out’ the car collection thus the Buick is on the market.

With attractive 2-seater bodywork finished in cream with black highlighting and red pin-striping, the Buick is a vbery attractive Veteran. There are many nice details which can be seen throughout the car. Accessories include a Klaxon horn, opening windscreen, side lamps, Buick logos on either end of the fuel tank, a picnic basket and five white sidewall tyres. One fascinating accessory is an air compressor which runs off the crankshaft.

There is some ageing evident, as the car was restored many years ago. After years of primarily being a display piece, the car would respond well to a thorough detail.

The desirable number plates ‘1914’ will be sold with the car to a Western Australian buyer.

Today this Buick is the oldest car in the active Vintage Automobile Association. This is certainly a rare vehicle and gives an affordable opportunity to join the world of Veteran motoring.
