1937 Vauxhall GY ‘Sloper’ – SOLD

This is a very special car. The large, luxury model 6-cylinder Vauxhall, with a body by Holdens, the rear section of which is exactly the same as the famous “Sloper’ bodies fitted to American GM products by Holdens at their South Australian factory. Just 51 were made in 1937 and this is the only one on the rod today – anywhere in the world. There’s just one other, non-running survivor.

The super-stylish Art Deco inspired 2-door bodywork makes this car very special – but so does its very high level of restoration. The car has won awards since its completion. It was sold new in Western Australia and was previously last registered in 1967.

There’s a record of the car’s restoration and a quantity of spare parts to be sold with the car. The numberplates 37 GY go with it if sold to a WA buyer.

With a 3125cc OHV 6-cylinder engine, 4-speed floor shift transmission, hydraulic brakes and independent front suspension, the GY was an advanced design and made a great touring car.

This fine example offers great potential for years of use in club events and will always be centre of attention for its uniqueness… A very rare opportunity.
